Intellectual conversation
I was in a restaurant with Mum the other day. Just so happened a friend and her family were sitting right behind me. Anyway, this conversation took place as we were looking at the menuMum: What would you like to eat?
Me: Hmm... not sure, anything eh... (usual non committal response)
Mum: DO YOU HAVE A COLDSORE??? (looking at a minor spot of perioral skin irritation secondary to not wiping mouth properly from dinner previous night)
Me: No. (saying it quietly moving back to looking at menu)
Mum: Ok... ... ... ... ARE YOU SURE IT LOOKS LIKE A COLDSORE
Me: no it's not!!! (as in... shush do you want entire friend's family to hear along with half the restaurant)
Mum: Ok... ... ... ... shall we eat the same as last time?
Me: Yeah, that sounds great
Mum: YOU DON'T NORMALLY GET COLDSORES EH!!??!?!?
Me: Yeah I like the prawn wonton soup.......

Cold Sores and Fever Blisters
What Is It?
Cold sores and fever blisters are caused by the herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), a virus that passes from person to person by direct contact with infected skin or secretions, including saliva.
The sores usually appear as clusters of tiny blisters on the lip. HSV-1 can cause similar, but smaller, blisters that rapidly become ulcers inside the mouth on the gums and palate (roof of the mouth).
Are you sure? It did look like a coldsore!!
Thanks for your input not-so-anonymous poster... I'm sure it wasn't a coldsore... I don't have any risk factors...
