Graduation!

I graduated on Monday. YAY! Just like qualifying ceremony, it was a little anticlimatic but still fun to have a day of celebration. Having finished 6 months ago and been working most of that time, it seems a bit strange to dig up the past and celebrate something that ended such a long time ago. Seems kind of silly to keep the tradition of having the ceremony in May - apparently they had to make it so late because in the old days they had to send the exam scripts back to England for marking and it would take that long for the results to come back. Since it's heading into winter, that's why they put the fur on the hoods to keep the graduates warm while they become comatose waiting in the town hall ceremony which is excessively long and boring and has stupid speeches.
Anyway I digress. The best part of the day is getting to stop the traffic on Queen Street with the procession. It's also fun to walk around and mess up the walking in rows of 4 thing while the marshalls are pulling their hair out trying to keep everything in order.

The ceremony itself is kinda boring for 99.999% of the time while you wait for you 10 seconds of glory walking on the stage to be capped. Then it's a brief moment of all out stress. Firstly you need to listen out for your name and hope that they pronounce it properly. Then you have to walk across the stage without tripping. Next you have to shake the hand of the Chancellor and kinda bow your head so he can cap you. At that moment you have to be careful not to bow too low or too far so that you give him a headbutt. Then you walk across the rest of the stage, spending a microsecond to look out for your family while still trying to walk in a straight line - but not too fast cos then you'll fall down the stairs. Then you see the stairs and walk down while trying to not trip over your stupid gown. Back to your seat and it's all over. Only about another hundred people to do the same thing before the end of the ceremony.

So that's it! Finished with uni forever! Finally!! Unless I decide to torture myself by returning for a law degree or something stupid like that.... if I do please shoot me.
